1 Introduction to SimMecha nic s ™ Softwar e
SimMechanics Product Description
Model and simul
ate multibo dy mechanica l systems
SimMechanics™
provides a multibody simulation environment for 3D
mechanical sy
stems, such as robots, vehicle suspensions, construction
equipment, an
d aircraft landing gear. Y ou model the multibody system using
blocks repre
senting bodies, joints, constraints, and force elements, and then
SimMechanic
s formulates and solves the equations of motion for the complete
mechanical s
ystem. Models from CAD systems, inclu ding mass, inertia,
joint, const
raint, and 3D geometry, can be imported into SimMechanics. An
automatica
lly generated 3D animation lets you visualize the system dynamics.
You can par
ameterize your models using MATLAB
®
variables and
expressio
ns, and design control systems for your multibody system in
Simulink
®
. You can a dd electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and other
component
s to your mechanical model using Simscape™ and test them all in
asingles
imulation environment. To deploy your models to other sim ulation
environm
ents, including hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) systems, SimMechanics
supports
C-code generation (with Simulink Coder™).
